An authorised judgment has been approved by the court to be published and is the preferred version to be used in court or when being cited in a scholarly publication. A reported judgment is one that has been deemed significant (for example, precedent value) and is reported in law reports. An unreported judgment is delivered in court by a judicial officer or tribunal member.
Authorised law reports are published by commercial publishers, not by the courts, and most will require a subscription to access them. Other law reports are published by commercial publishers and most will require a subscription to access them.
