The Law Library Victoria respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country, and we pay our respects to First Peoples across Victoria and Australia. The Supreme Court Library stands on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung of the Kulin Nation.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that the Library collection includes stories of hardship and trauma as described in legal proceedings. Some material contains terms that reflect the period in which the item was written or recorded, but may not be considered appropriate today. These views are not necessarily the views of the Law Library Victoria. The information is provided in an historical and legal context.
Our immediate next steps include:
• Remote access to Native Title in Australia by R. Bartlett for Victorian lawyers
• Creating and curating an indigenous justice subject guide in consultation with the Indigenous Justice Committee.
• Promoting library training for indigenous law networks.
We look forward to further conversations with Australia’s first nations people, as we take steps together in a spirit of respect and reconciliation. We are grateful for the assistance of the Indigenous Justice Committee of the Victorian Bar.
