WWI display in the Supreme Court Library
November 11, 2018 will be the centenary of the end of WWI. To mark this occasion there is a display in the Supreme Court Library about the contribution of the Melbourne legal profession to the War.
The Australian delegation to the Peace Conference included two members of the Melbourne legal profession: John Latham, the future Chief Justice of the High Court, and Frederick Eggleston, a solicitor and in 1919 a member of the Australian Army's Court Martial Service. On display is the library's copy of the Treaty of Versailles from 1919. Also highlighted is the service of three Supreme Court Judges and a Supreme Court Associate during the War. The Supreme Court Librarian Eustace Coghill's diary is also included in the display.
Visit the Supreme Court Library to view the exhibition, on display until early 2019.
