1. Can I access the internet in the library?
Yes.Use the Supreme Court Library's Wi-Fi. There are three terminals available for legal research on the Ground Floor of the Supreme Court Library.
Victorian Legal Practitioners can access the digital library online by logging into the website on internet connected devices. See Services for Victorian Lawyers | The Law Library of Victoria for more information.
2. Can I access research databases in the library?
There are three terminals available for legal research on the Ground Floor of the Supreme Court Library.

Members of the Victorian Bar can access the full suite of digital resources through the computers in the Richard Griffith Library, Level One, Owen Dixon East.
3. Can I borrow items?
The Library’s Ground and First Floors are open to members of the profession and the public Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Members of the profession can borrow from our general collection in the Supreme Court Library to use in court for the day.
Members of the profession can borrow from our lending collection (LS) (Level Two in Room A) for two weeks. Please contact us if you require an item in the lending collection.
Members of the public cannot borrow items from the Law Library of Victoria. The Supreme Court Library is a research library, not a lending library.
4. Can I photocopy or scan in the library?
Yes, there are two photocopy machines that photocopy and scan. You can find them on:
Bring a USB and scan to USB. Scanning via email is not available.
Photocopier use is for library material only. No charges apply if library materials are being photocopied or scanned. Copyright restrictions apply, please read the copyright notice.
5. Can I recommend an item for purchase?
Yes, we welcome purchase suggestions, email the details to llv@courts.vic.gov.au.
6. How do I access the collections of the Law Library Victoria?
Visit the Supreme Court Library to access our books and print material. View our Collection map to assist in finding your way around the collection. The Library’s Ground and First Floors are open to members of the profession and the public Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. Please contact us if you require an item located on Level Two or Level Three of the collection.
7. How do I find a book and other printed resources in the Law Library Victoria?
You can find a book and other printed resources by searching our Catalogue. You can also check our Holdings List, which is a complete list of the Supreme Court Library’s holdings of journals, law reports and legislation. The Library’s Ground and First Floors are open to members of the profession and the public Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. Please contact us if you require an item located on Level Two or Level Three of the collection.

The Library’s Ground and First Floors are open to members of the profession and the public Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Access to the County Court, Magistrates' Court, and VCAT libraries is for judicial officers, tribunal members, and court staff only. The Richard Griffith Library is available to Victorian Bar members only.
There are no private meeting rooms. As per Courtroom etiquette and protocol, enter and leave quietly and avoid loud discussions.
10. What are the copyright and licensing restrictions?
Copyright restrictions apply to the use of print material, online resources and for photocopying. For more information see the website of the Australian Copyright Council.

11. What court libraries and jurisdictions are included in the Law Library Victoria?
Law Library Victoria manages the libraries of the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates' Court, and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and the Victorian Bar. We also provide services to the Children's Court, Coroners Court, Court Services Victoria, Judicial College of Victoria, Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal and the Judicial Commission.
