William Cuthill was the Chief Stipendiary Magistrate of Victoria from 1948-1974. He was also a member of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, and put together this account of the history of the Victorian Magistrates’ Court for the Society. Mr Cuthill included a historical outline of the Court covering its development through to the 1970s, as well as letters, memos, and notes detailing the formation of the Court in the early to mid 1800’s. The original typed material has been digitised to preserve this record and to make the information available for all to use.
