As part of Melbourne Rare Book Week, the Supreme Court Library invites you to explore its rich collection of historic dictionaries.

Throughout July and August a new exhibit will display items including a legal dictionary dating back to 1575, and a controversial dictionary from 1607. These volumes offer a fascinating glimpse into how language and terminology were once understood.

The collection was established by Sir Redmond Barry, acting Chief Justice and founder of the Library, and has been built on by generations of librarians since.
