Welcome to the Law Library of Victoria's Legal Research eLearning.

One course, multiple benefits

Legal research is a foundational and life-long professional skill. The Legal Research eLearning units are designed to meet a variety of requirements suited to a range of legal roles.  It is presented in a flexible and dynamic way that is supportive of individual learner needs and of lifelong learning. 

There are two units, Legislation and Case Law. They include videos and activities as well as Fact Sheets, short PDF guides that contain a summary of key legal research topics – perfect to download and save for future reference.

Legal Research eLearning can be used for:

  • Learn new skills and techniques that will assist you in your day-to-day legal role
  • Add to inductions
  • Strengthen and extend your existing legal research knowledge with resources from a variety of publishers
  • Quickly pick up key skills on a specific research topic
  • Perfect as a ready reference tool
Continuing Professional Development
  • Two points are available for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The eLearning course fulfils criteria under the compulsory field of Professional Skills, but can also be used for Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Practice Management and Business Skills, and Substantive Law
